My name is Stefano Dubay, I'm from Rome, Italy, currently residing in Hollywood, California.
After completing my studies in Mathematics for Multimedia Communication at the University of Rome "Tor Vergata" I felt the need to integrate my logical and technological knowledge with the need to create Art.
This brought me to Los Angeles where I spent 21 months studying Visual Effects at The Gnomon School in Hollywood, CA. The certificate program I took, it gave me an in depth perspective of each aspect of the visual effects production.
Since the very beginning I felt in love with character/creature sculpting, modeling, texturing and design.

I started working while I was still at school as an intern at Gentle Giant Studios. This experience gave me the opportunity to learn about the modern scandata acquisition, editing and resurfacing techniques.
I kept working there fulltime for another year on several blockbuster productions between the others on The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, 10000 BC and The Golden Compass, as well as on several high end commercials and on the upcoming videogame Golden Axe, expected for this September.
For this last project I had to deal with all the aspects involved in the creature creation pipeline: Sculpting, Modeling, Texturing and Rigging .

I got hired then as Freelance Artist at Rhythm and Hues Studios, Los Angeles, CA. My responsibilities were: quick Maquette creation from concept provided by the art department, extremely high resolution detailing in Zbrush and Mudbox, topology reconstruction, UV Mapping, and a lot of ZBrush consulting where I used my problem solving skills to smoothly integrate this software in Rhythm's preexisting character pipeline.

After Rhythm I got hired as resident staff Modeler at Psyop/Massmarket/Blacklist for high end 3D commercials. The company's unique style and poetic approach to the commercial storytelling and their degree of realism/stylization is a constant challenge and inspiration. While at Psyop I had the opportunity to work on several major commercials for client such as Axe, Cadbury, Skype, Peugeot, U.S. Airforce, Disney and others.

Then I moved to Sony Pictures Entertainment - Imageworks where I had the honor to work with Aardman and the sony's staff on their next full CG animated feature "Arthur's Christmas" where I got to model many hero and subhero characters.
The movie is going to be released end of 2011 so unfortunately that material is all in NDA zone...
It had been terrific to work with the creators of Wallace and Gromit, besides of being co directed by one of the creators of Borat.
